Finally the PC aren't the hub for the iPhone, iPod or iPad. iCloud will make it possible to set up, maintain and store the media and the apps data without any tethering PC. So the iOS devices has now become independent computers in their own right.
This also make the mobile devices fully mobile. This seems like an unimportant distinction, but let me tell you about when I tried to break lose from my Macbook when visitin family in Tromsø in the Easter. On the third day my iPad froze, and without my Mac I'd no means to get it running again. The morale I found in this experience was that always carry both Macbook, iPhone and iPad.
But when iOS is avaiable in the fall, we can all break lose from our PCs, being a Windows PC or a Macbook, and go with the device that suits us.
Our mobile device then has become an independent party of the cloud.
And by moving the data up in the sky, Apple has ironically also made the cloud personal. Because iCloud is really MY cloud, my encrypted cloud with an encrypted connection.
So welcome, my new personal computer, which are mobile, independent and connected with my cloud. But, just another thing: You're not alone! You are now appearing in the form as an iPhone, an iPod, an iPad, a Mac and an Apple TV. So really the new term could be:
My peronal computers…
…or PCs 😉
